A Northampton County family of five is homeless after a two-alarm fire destroyed their Palmer Township home. Firefighters were called to a home on Timberline Drive early Sunday morning to find it partially engulfed in flames and with smoke pouring from under the rooftop. The residents are reportedly uninjured but lost everything in the blaze. A GoFundMe page has already been set up by a neighbor and clothing, toiletry items and monetary donations are being accepted.
Police in Easton are looking for witnesses to a Sunday night crash involving a car and motorcycle. The accident happened around 6:30 Sunday night on North Delaware Drive. All three people involved in the crash were injured, but are expected to survive.
It was a traffic mess for a couple hours Sunday afternoon in Northampton County. A load of hay caught fire on the back of a flatbed truck around 2:30 on Route 22 east at the Route 33 South exit. Traffic was backed up more than two hours and two miles before the hay was cleaned up.
It was a particularly violent Sunday in Philadelphia, where nine people were shot yesterday. One of those people died. Police think most of the shootings were unrelated. Current crime statistics for this year shows the murder rate in Philadelphia is six-percent higher than where the city stood on June 10, 2018. Last year saw the most murders in Philadelphia since 2007.
The New Jersey Department of Health is warning that people in one Union County community may have been exposed to the measles. A New York City man with a confirmed case of the virus was in Cranford on May 30th at the AristaCare Health Services Corporate Office on Birchwood Avenue. Anyone who was there that day between 10am and 2pm is urged to contact a health care provider in advance of going for medical treatment so preparations to contain the virus can be made.
The Philadelphia Eagles will be back on the practice field tomorrow when the team begins mandatory minicamp. The minicamp will last three days and then the team will return later this summer for training camp.
Former Philadelphia Phillies Frank Lucchesi has passed away at the age of 92. Lucchesi took over as manager for the Phillies in 1970. He spent a little more than two seasons managing the Phillies.
