A crash involving a motorcycle and a car has left two people dead in Carbon County. The crash happened around 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon on Forest Inn Road in Towamensing Township. An unidentified male and female were killed. Investigators believe both were riding on the motorcycle. State police in Lehighton are handling the investigation.
Police aren't saying anything about what drew a massive emergency response near St. Luke's Fountain Hill campus. It all happened early Sunday morning, with police from several departments being called out, roads being shut down and drones being brought in over the area. Authorities have yet to confirm what the heavy police response was for.
Lafayette College’s outgoing dining service provider says 194 workers will be laid off, however it doesn't appear to be permanent. Bon Appetit Management Co. has filed a layoff notice with an effective date of July 11. However, a Lafayette spokesperson said the college will begin using Parkhurst Dining over the summer and the new contractor will rehire those employees.
It sounds more and more likely that St. Sen. Doug Mastriano plans to run for the U.S. Senate in 2024. The Republican plans to make an announcement this week about his future, in what he called “crazy good news.” Mastriano ran for governor last year and lost to Democrat Josh Shapiro by 15 percentage points. He said over the weekend at an event in Lebanon County that he will disclose his decision about entering the 2024 primary on Facebook Live.
The FBI reportedly conducting searches on American citizens by using its warrantless search power. Pennsylvania Democratic Congresswoman Chrissy Houlahan weighed in with Fox News. "What we've seen is that there were definitely some issues on how FISA was used and utilized and there have been dozens of reforms that have been made over the course of the last year or so to address those issues," Houlahan says. The FBI says it's not using that power as much, using the power 94 percent less in 2022.
After checking himself into a hospital for clinical depression back in February, Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman is back on the job. In his staple hoodie and gym shorts, Fetterman is casting votes from the doorway of the Democratic cloakroom to subvert the dress code rule. He was met with criticism for his attire during a press conference with four Democratic colleagues in suits. Others have praised Fetterman's casual demeanor, noting his "joyful" disposition since returning to his office.
Wildcat's Revenge is set to make its debut at Hersheypark early next month. The park announced that June 2nd, the new hybrid coaster will be open to the public. It's the first of its kind, wood and steel coaster, at the park. Wildcat's Revenge is two-minutes and 36-seconds featuring 140-foot hill with an 82-degree plunge.
