Subject: 3 Election myths that most Christians believe!
1) This is the most important election of our lifetime!
Of course politicians tell us this every four years. Either they were lying then or now! Actually, national elections are nearly meaningless. Whoever wins, those who actually govern are unchanged. It is the invisible government, the faceless bureaucrats, unaccountable to the taxpayers, voters, or anyone (other than maybe international moneyed interests) who make the rules we live under. Since the progressive ideas of governing took hold in the early 20th century, it is administrators who control things not elected leaders.
2) We can’t survive four more years of Obama (or whoever the incumbent is).
Isn’t God still sovereign? Does promotion still not come from the east or the west or the south but from the Lord? Doesn’t he still as Nebachanazzar learned, set up over it the basest of men? If it is God’s will for Obama to win, nothing can prevent it. Of course, the same is true of Romney. If things get worse & there is economic collapse, was there not a famine before Israel turned to God in Elijah’s day? Would there be a TEA Party if not for Obama.? When things get bad, people get stirred. Vote your conscience, leave the results to God.
3) The Republican Party will stand for the Christian’s issues. (moral & social)
This is the easiest to debunk. Look at history. Nearly 40 years of Pro-Life rhetoric since Roe v. Wade. There have been small gains, mostly due to local private efforts. Pro-family? Small government? Look at our platform they say. The platform is a political document intended to hold the base. It is literally not worth the paper it is written on. The 1996 nominee, Bob Dole admitted he hadn’t even read it. The courts are important we are told. Okay, well the Roe v. Wade decision was a 7-2 majority decision by a court that had a 6-3 majority appointed by Republicans. (One appointment of each party dissented – Rehnquist & White) We all know who appointed John Roberts of “Obama-care is constitutional” fame. Before the Progressive politicizing of the court, the political views of judges & justices meant nothing. Judicial temperament (separating personal preferences from the application of the law) was important. Roe v. Wade & other constitutional usurpations need resisted not overturned. The states & local authorities as well as Congress & the President should ignore it, not promise us what they will do when it is overturned, thus making inroads against judicial supremacy & for the Constitutional concept of federalism..
Laws, court opinions, presidential orders that are repugnant to the Constitution are not law! (Paraphrase & expansion of a Jeffersonian quote),
Carl

If I hear more, I'll let you know.
Here are the numbers – pretty ugly.
And when put in perspective it is clear why I am so frustrated over our lack of real action in the debt compromise.
The Federal Budget 101
Some Perspective. Lets hope they can do better than this
Here is a simple example that will clearly show you what all the nonsense and rhetoric is all about.
The U.S. Congress sets a federal budget every year in the trillions of dollars. Few people know how much money that is so we created a breakdown of federal spending in simple terms. Let's put the 2011 federal budget into perspective:
• U.S. income: $2,170,000,000,000
• Federal budget: $3,820,000,000,000
• New debt: $ 1,650,000,000,000
• National debt: $14,271,000,000,000
• Recent budget cut: $ 38,500,000,000 (about 1 percent of the budget)
It helps to think about these numbers in terms that we can relate to. Let's remove eight zeros from these numbers and pretend this is the household budget for the fictitious Jones family.
• Total annual income for the Jones family: $21,700
• Amount of money the Jones family spent: $38,200
• Amount of new debt added to the credit card: $16,500
• Outstanding balance on the credit card: $142,710
• Amount cut from the budget: $385
The Gracedale Reality
Gracedale, the Northampton County Owned healthcare facility, is home to over 600 residents and roughly 700 employees, including various labor unions. Gracedale is an important part of Northampton County’s history; providing quality health care to its residents and a quality workplace for its skilled health care professionals. In order to save Gracedale we must vote “no” to the referendum on May 17, 2011. Voting “no” will reduce the tax burden on Northampton County residents; it will increase health care services, and allow for capital improvements without having to float a 15 million dollar bond at a cost of 1.2 million dollars per year to finance improvements which would push us deeper into budgetary insolvency. Northampton County must fund the operating costs of Gracedale, the bulk of which come from salaries and a benefit package that studies have shown to be double the norm. The county pays roughly 68% of benefits for Gracedale employees. This poses a major financial challenge and is impossible to sustain without a significant tax increase.
If Gracedale were privately owned, it would receive $4 million more per year than the County receives in Federal and State funding. This is an effort on the part of Federal and State legislators to encourage private ownership and lessen the burden to a county’s local tax base. The rising costs of County ownership and lower funding from the Federal and State level is a recipe for disaster. The Corbett administration has proposed lowering funding by 2% for 2011-2012 which means the County will receive $725,000.00 less than in 2010-2011. Analysts predict this as only the beginning of lower reimbursement levels in future years.
Budget Impact 2011
The harsh reality of Gracedale is that if voters say “yes” to this referendum they will not be saving Gracedale, but furthering the reason to close it. If we maintain ownership of Gracedale, operating costs alone would require Northampton County to contribute an additional $3 million this year to fund operations through December 2011. To get the additional funding the administration will be forced to propose a budget amendment and present it to County Council for approval. Council has sent a clear message to the administration that above all it intends to protect the tax payers of Northampton County. This is a major concern of the administration as well.
Budget Impact 2012
If Gracedale remains a government owned facility, the impact on the 2012 budget would be severe. It would require a minimum 9% tax increase to a maximum 28% tax increase to fund operating costs and capital improvements in 2012.
If Gracedale becomes privatized, however, the budget impact may be positive. It would most certainly lessen the severity of bond swaption looming around 15 million at the present. Gracedale would be placed on the tax rolls and generate much needed tax revenue that equates to roughly $358,523.50 to the Nazareth Area School District, $24,833.00 to Bushkill Township, and $82,523.00 to the County of Northampton. Part of the sales proceeds could be used to strengthen the services provided by the County’s Area Agency on Aging, which strives to keep elderly residents in their homes whenever possible.
A private company can increase the healthcare services to Northampton County Gracedale residents in areas such as: Alzheimer’s care, the ventilation unit, behavioral health and diabetes care. It will remain a facility that houses roughly 85% government funded residents. Current residents will not have to relocate. Privatization will not only save Gracedale, but allow it to flourish and rise to its potential as a top flight nursing home characterized by the provision of exemplary healthcare services for all who need its services.
The responsible vote on the Gracedale referendum is a vote of “no” if we are truly compassionate about the preservation of its future.

On a new training session to start off the day
And attempt to erase the memory of the black, orange and gray.

With visions of Championships playing in their heads.
The Phanatic on his 4 wheeler and Charlie in his cap,
Looks down his line-up, and batting 5th there's a gap.
When all of a sudden, arose such a chatter,
ESPN was on the scene to see whats the matter!
Away from the Rangers he flew like a flash!
Flipped off the Yankees and told them "keep your cash!"
When what to our wondering eyes should appear!?
A familiar face of a man who was just here!
With a nasty curve ball and a fastball that's quick,
An addition to a rotation that's already sick!
The most powerful rotation that's ever been seen!
The Big 3 is now 4, cause Cliffs back on the team!
Now Halladay,Hamels,Oswalt and Lee!

Cliff came to our team cause he said it felt right,
Merry Cliffmas to All and to all a good night!

Gunther,
It's beginning to look a lot like chaos
Ev'rywhere you go;
Take a look at the pension plan that Allentown says it can
Pay for with higher taxes they’ll bestow.
It's beginning to look a lot like chaos
Gangs are still at war
But the scariest sight to see is the murder that will be
At your own front door.
A tax to balance the budget without having to fudge it
Is the wish of Ed Pawlowski
Schools without guns and girls acting like nuns
That’s what Zahorchak would like to see
Non-residents can hardly wait to pay more tax to fund the pension plan
It’s beginning to look a lot like chaos
Whenever will it end?
But the thing that will make it real is the hollowness we’ll feel
With no cash to spend

The meeting is over, the budget is passed
The people will have to pay more
And who do they have to thank for this move?
Dean Browning, a political whore.
With his friend Cunningham, he agreed to the tax
That will increase at 16 per cent
It’s his job so Dean says to say yes to this move
That increases the money to be spent
But the real news here is that voters will know
Don and Dean are the two that they’ve got
And this increase could have been avoided
It they had voted instead for Scott Ott.

We’re happy for Miss Hillary
We wish her the best as she travels the world

But we’ll know if the wish that she makes does come true

Gunther,
The outlook wasn’t brilliant for the drivers yesterday
The roads were closed, the traffic jammed, what caused this great delay?
And then appeared a motorcade from airport to downtown
Who was inside this limousine, who shut the traffic down?
The horns were loud, the anger flared the people were upset
How long would they be forced to sit in traffic, no one would even bet.
And now the man inside the car appeared as he drove by
He was the cause of all this fuss, this funny looking guy.
Oh, somewhere in this favored land the traffic never stops
The cars do flow, the people go, not directed by the cops
And somewhere people shake their fists and holler “Let us go!”
But stuck they are in Allentown, for they have to wait for Joe.

There’s a kind of magic in 35
It’s a number that sure rings a bell
But a couple who is well-known in the world
May feel like this number’s from Hell
This husband and wife don’t spend much time together
They seem to have separate lives
One can only imagine how each of them feels
It’s like living on edges of knives
One wonders what gifts that the two will exchange
But one thing’s for sure, we can guess
Bill won’t be smoking a Grand Reserve cigar
Hillary won’t wear a blue dress
So our best wishes go forth to this couple, so dear
As the celebrate their married life
And we hope that they do something different today
Like Bill going out with his wife.

Will the judge then enforce
George give back what belongs to his wife?
