News and Notes

Shady’s Scores ... RB LeSean McCoy scored two touchdowns (one rushing, one receiving) and now has five total on the season. It was his fourth time scoring via rush and reception in the same game and his ninth multi-touchdown outing ... McCoy has reached the end zone in ten of his last 11 home games ... He has also scored a receiving touchdown in each of the last three contests. The last Eagles running back to do so was Brian Westbrook in 2005 ... McCoy has 25 touchdowns in his last 22 games ... His 30 career rushing touchdowns rank sixth in franchise history.

Mac Attack ... Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin has accumulated 215 receptions and 2,924 receiving yards in his career, which are the third-highest totals ever by an Eagle in his first four seasons. He trails Keith Jackson (242) and DeSean Jackson (230) in receptions and DeSean Jackson (4,096) and Mike Quick (3,864) in yards.

Moving on Up ... WR DeSean Jackson (263) surpassed Fred Barnett for the second-most receptions ever by an Eagle in his first five seasons. He trails Mike Quick (273) for the record ... Jackson also passed Ben Hawkins for 13th on the team’s all-time receptions list ... QB Michael Vick (8,230) moved past Bobby Thomason and into seventh place on the team’s all-time passing yards list

Birdseed ... DT Fletcher Cox and T/G Dennis Kelly each made their first-career start ... DT Cedric Thornton registered his first-career sack ... K Alex Henery has made 11 field goals in a row. He tied Chris Boniol for ninth on the team’s all-time list with 36 career field goals ... The offense has scored points on their opening drive of the second half in six of seven games this season (two touchdowns, four field goals)

Grades

-Offense: F; Another sluggish performance from the offense. Marty Mornhingweg with another conservative play calling that got the Eagles nowhere! They couldn’t get in any type of rhythm and didn’t give the ball to their best weapon on offense RB Lesean McCoy until they got into the 4th quarter and down 20 points and only got 19 touches in the game.

The oline in shambles once again with players shuffling in out gave QB Michael Vick no time and no lanes for the running game. Nothing was going the Eagles way and once again the similar theme is they can put up all the yards they want, but if it doesn’t equal points they are not going to win football games.

On the bright side the offense didn’t turn the ball over but Vick had less than 200 yards passing in the game. He was missing open receivers when they were open in the game and making bad decisions with the football. This unit is so anemic I don’t see anything fixing it except maybe a new signal caller.

-Defense: F; They fire Juan Castillo and they still didn’t fix the problem. The Falcons just carved up this defense, having their way with them. They scored on their first 6 possessions. The Falcons were the 5th worst rushing offense in the NFL and gashed the Eagles for almost 140 yards. This defense didn’t make a stop until the 4th quarter when we finally saw their punter. Todd Bowles was aggressive early and dialed up a lot of various blitz packages but Matt Ryan and this offense was always one step ahead of them and burned them. CB Nnamdi Asomugha continues to prove he is overrated getting burned once again down the sideline and just too much mis-communication in the secondary for them to really do anything against the Falcons high powered offense. In their defense, it is difficult to learn a new scheme in a week but they just played with no energy to be affective.

-Special Teams: Incomplete; Basically because the defense couldn’t make a stop the return game got the night off. Matt McBriar once again inconsistent and the Eagles lost the battle in field position. Bobby April’s job isn’t safe after no results week after week.

Overall F; The Eagles just laid down! They played with no heart or pride! I know the Falcons are a good football team but they didn’t even show up to play! This team is in shambles and realistically everyone was extremely overrated with this football team. The truth is, it looks like they are just not that good from coaches, down to the players. This team is 3-4 now and need a miracle run to make the playoffs
