Things just keep on getting worse for the Philadelphia Eagles. You thought it couldn’t get as bad as falling to 3-8 and losing to the Carolina Panthers 30-22 on Monday Night Football for the entire nation to see but it has. The Eagles have placed WR Desean Jackson on injured reserve after sustaining multiple fractured ribs in the loss, ending his 2012 season.

The 5-11 175lbs receiver finishes with some disappointing numbers. The former pro bowler recorded 45 grabs, 700 yards and only two touchdowns in 11 games this season. The Eagles are now only down to four original projected starters on offense(FB Stanley Havili, WR Jeremy Maclin, G Evan Mathis, TE Brent Celek) when the Eagles take on the Dallas Cowboys in Big D this Sunday evening!

There is no hope to save this season and now it is evaluation time for this football team with or without Andy Reid. We have to know and see what exactly we have so we know who is coming and going in 2013 under the new head coach regime.

Foles Likely To Start Against Cowboys

Head Coach Andy Reid gave an update on the status of QB Michael Vick on Monday and the news was still not encouraging. Reid informed that Vick has not passed his impact test yet and with the short week he will not be able to go as the Eagles install their gameplan Wednesday for the Cowboys meaning 3rd round pick Nick Foles will likely make this 3rd straight start.

Reid just kept on saying they don’t want to rush Vick back and push him to return when he is clearly not ready. And realistically what would that accomplish putting him back under center. This team isn’t going anywhere sitting at 3-8 and you know what you have with Vick as your quarterback. They have to keep Foles in. This is the kid’s final dress rehearsal in what kind of direction this organization goes at quarterback in 2013. We have to know what we have and so far we haven’t seen anything too encouraging to show that he can be the franchise quarterback for this football team, but there is still time.

In 11 quarters this season, Foles has completed close to 60% of his passes for 542yds, 1 Touchdown and has turned it over four times this season(3 ints, 1 Fumble). He has had his ups and downs which is what you expect from a rookie but he has been extremely fortunate his numbers aren’t worse with some bad decisions with the football in coverage. He is only averaging 5.5yds an attempt which is pitiful. Andy and Marty need to take the reigns off of this kid and open the playbook and take some shots to see what exactly we have.

Injury Update

-DT Fletcher Cox(tailbone) and LT King Dunlap(MCL) will not practice on Wednesday due to injuries.

-Probably one of the biggest losses in the offseason was LT Jason Peters after tearing his Achillies twice in less than a year. Reid said on Monday that the All-Pro will not be activated this season and looks for him to return in 2013.

-And for another week, it looks like RB Lesean McCoy will not play. He is still in phase 1  of his concussion recovery and Reid said “likely a longshot” to participate against the Cowboys. But have no fear, RB Bryce Brown is hear after breaking out for 178yds and 2 TDs in his first NFL Start.
