Last Meeting: November 16th 2008, Eagles 13 Redskins 13

-A windy affair between the Eagles and Bengals, a game where the nation will never let Eagles QB Donovan Mcnabb go after his comments following a 13-13 tie that he did not know the rules that a game can end in a tie. Ill just leave it at that….

Keys to the Game

-Sure Up Miscommunication In Secondary: Week after week there has been a breakdown in coverage allowing opponents’ receivers to run free in open field for the big play. The Eagles got rid of the wide 9 scheme so it takes the pressure off the safeties to be responsible in the run game. They have to be more discipline and everyone’s responsibilities so there isn’t miscommunication. They are going up against one of the up and coming receivers in the NFL, WR AJ Green and he will make you pay for any mistake.

-Win The Turnover Battle: The Eagles this season are 1-0 when they win the turnover battle. Stats don’t lie, win the turnover battle you win the game. Ok maybe not that easy but the Eagles have done a better job since QB Nick Foles took over of hanging onto the football. But the defense has to do a better job of coming up with big takeaways to set up the offense in position. The Eagles haven’t forced a turnover in five straight games. The last game the defense forced a takeaway was Monday night against the Saints. They have made improvement of stopping their opponents forcing three and outs, now they need to take their game to the next level.

-Establish a Rhythm Offensively: The Eagles offense has played well since the rookie sensation, Nick Foles took over. They have been able to move the football, contain consistent drives to wear down their opponents and put up points. But they have a tough challenge this week going up against a stout Bengals’ defense that is good against both the pass and the run. The Eagles have to keep Cincinnati on their heels with a balance offensive attack. RB Bryce Brown has been on a tear but struggled last week against the best run D in the league. He gets a second chance this week going up against a good defense. Andy and Marty need to pound the rock, put the offense in good position on 2nd and 3rd down to open up the play action and the passing game. They need to allow Foles to open up the passing game and show us what we have with him and Thursday’s challenge will show us I feel how far along he really is.

Prediction: Eagles Win 28-20 …. I know it is a short week coming off the road to play a game in three days. But the Eagles are playing with a lot of confidence and have the momentum on their side. I feel the defense will make a stand this week to allow the Eagles to be in the position to win this football game. The offense will be tested but with the leadership and production we have seen from Foles, Im confident he can't get the job done. The Eagles start their own winning streak beating the Bengals.
